The event, jointly organised by the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, and the Yunnan Nationalities Museum, and the Yunnan Institute of Chinese Opera, will include performances and activities for children, offering them a chance to discover the similarities and differences between the cultures of Vietnam and China.

The lion dance, water puppets, and Vietnamese opera performances will represent traditional Vietnamese culture while the charm of Chinese culture will be shown in Chinese opera, the art of papers cutting, painting Chinese opera masks, sewing toy animals, and making lanterns.

Along with introducing common folk games from the two countries like top spinning, tug of war, or blind tag, visitors to the museum can also take part in Chinese games of round dance on one foot, robbing treasure and team races.

The programme ‘Enjoying the Moonlight’ held on the evening of September 20, will be the highlight of the event with several activities such as a lion dance, Chinese opera, circus and lantern processions.

On the first day of the festival, 100 gifts will be given to disadvantaged children in charity village and vocational training centres.
