Cultural festivals

The Westchester County Parks Department’s summerlong series of cultural celebrations will continue with two outdoor festivals being held simultaneously at different locations, on Sunday, July 18. Kensico Dam Plaza will host a Polish Heritage Festival from noon to 6 p.m. The highlight of the celebration will be a performance by Banner of Jasna Gora  a historical re-enactment group that offers a glimpse of 17th century Poland.

As well as a World War II display that includes several authentic military uniforms. The day will also feature live Polka music, Polish folk dancing, a Polish-American cultural history exhibit and activities for kids. In addition, Polish arts and crafts will be available for purchase and there will be kielbasa, pierogies, golumbki and other Polish foods on sale throughout the afternoon.

The culture and traditions of the Middle East will be celebrated during an Arab Heritage Festival that will be held at Tibbetts Brook Park, from 3 to 8 p.m. Visitors of all ages can enjoy Middle Eastern music and other live entertainment, as well as browse vendors selling Arabic food, pastries, costumes, fashions and crafts.
